Is your face or chest showing the signs of aging? Do you wish there was a non-invasive way to re-contour, volumize and tighten your face without an invasive cosmetic procedure? At SKNCraft in Houston, TX, we’re excited about the opportunity to talk to you about the PDO thread lift. Read on to discover the amazing benefits of this anti-aging treatment.
Benefits of the PDO Thread Lift
Non-Invasive Cheek Vector Lift
When you reach the age of 30, your body starts to produce 1% less collagen every year. By the age of 34, your body is producing collagen at roughly 96.07% of its previous production capacity. While this seems insignificant, the noticeable cheek and lip volume loss beg to disagree. Smooth PDO threads stimulate collagen production to give your cheeks a lift.
Non-Invasive Jaw Lift
If you’re not quite satisfied with your jawline and chin, you can benefit from a thread lift. PDO threads can be used to reduce the appearance of a double chin and tighten chin skin. At the same time, it can also be used to slim the jawline and reveal a more masculine or feminine jawline depending on your underlying bone structure.
Non-Invasive Neck Lift
The skin on your neck and face is so thin that people often start to consider a neck lift and facelift by the age of 35. With a thread lift, you can push off the need for such invasive procedures for years or even indefinitely. Clients also come in for a thread lift to correct a botched or inadequate procedure or extend the results of their procedures.
Like cheek lifts and jaw lifts, neck lifts and facelifts use barbed threads to lift and tighten the skin. Most clients who come in for a thread lift received barbed threads to lift and tighten and smooth threads to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the upper face.
Younger, Brighter Eyes
People often say that your eyes are the window to your soul. However, when you have extensive bags under your eyes and lines under and around your eyes (Crow’s feet), people may think that you are bored, disinterested, tired or unintelligent. That is the last thing you want when you’re vying for a new client, raise or promotion.
People who seek a PDO thread lift to treat the very thin skin beneath and around their eyes also take the opportunity to receive a non-invasive brow lift, smooth forehead wrinkles and correct marionette folds, nasolabial folds and fine lines found in the lower face.
Long-Lasting Results
One of the most compelling benefits of the PDO thread lift is that the results are long-lasting. While injectables such as Botox or dermal fillers may last between three and six months, the results of a thread lift can easily last 21 months. It takes between four and six months for your body to absorb the sutures fully.
The collagen and elastin that are produced in the area due to the foreign body last another 12 to 15 months, and that’s the worst-case scenario. Younger clients with healthier collagen and elastin may enjoy the benefits of a thread lift for much longer.
Rapid Results
It can take up to six months to see the results of a facelift, brow lift, cheek lift or neck lift due to extensive swelling. In stark contrast, you immediately see the skin tightening results of a thread lift. Even better, the tone and texture of your skin continue to improve over the first week or two after treatment.
Short Treatment
Another incredibly compelling benefit of a thread lift is the treatment is short and sweet. When performed alone, it takes no longer than 30 minutes. If it is combined with other aesthetic services, such as Botox or dermal fillers, it may take between 33 and 48 minutes at most.
During your initial consultation, we will perform a physical examination of your desired treatment area. Combined with a review of your aesthetic goals, we will tailor a treatment plan to help you enhance your aesthetic within any time or budget constraints you may have.
Easy Preparation
Preparation for a thread lift is incredibly quick and easy. Reschedule any dental appointments that are currently scheduled in the two weeks following your thread lift. You shouldn’t keep your mouth open for more than half an hour at a time after your treatment. Let us know if you are experiencing inflammation within two days of your treatment.
Do not consume alcohol the night before your treatment. Engage in a relaxing activity the day before your treatment, such as a hot stone massage, meditation or sauna session. Do not take any medications or nutritional supplements that can thin your blood within two days of your treatment.
Simple Recovery
After an invasive lift, you have to avoid strenuous activity for six weeks post-op. There are also several other restrictions and post-op care steps you must take. “Recovery” from a thread lift is a breeze. Don’t touch or wash the treatment site for 12 hours and limit facial motion for 24 hours if your face was the area treated.
Within 24 hours of treatment, you may resume any non-strenuous activities. Eat soft foods for seven to 10 days after treatment and resume normal activities as soon as you feel ready. You should avoid strenuous activity for two to three weeks after treatment, however, you will essentially be fully recovered after a week of treatment.
Customizable Treatment
Our clients particularly love how customizable a thread lift is. In fact, there are primarily five types of PDO threads. Non-barbed threads are primarily used for erasing fine lines, moderate wrinkles and deep folds. Examples of non-barbed threads include mono-filament threads and braided threads.
Barbed threads are primarily used to tighten and lift the skin. Examples of these threads include unilateral and bilateral threads, uni-directional, bi-directional and z-type threads and cutting barbs as well as molding barbs. Every thread has a different quality, tensile strength and effectiveness for providing a particular solution.
Open Candidacy
If you are interested in shaving years off your face with no general anesthesia, rapid recovery and minimal cost, you are probably a good candidate for a thread lift. This treatment is most often recommended to clients who need the benefits of a brow lift, cheek lift, cheek augmentation, jowl lift or neck lift but don’t want scarring or an extensive recovery process.
However, it’s not rare for clients to come in who are dissatisfied with the results of a brow lift, neck lift or facelift. Rather than spending an inordinate amount of money on a revisionary procedure that may not even fix the problem, they see a thread lift as the perfect opportunity to get things right. They are also good candidates for this treatment.
Painless Treatment
Before treatment even starts, the treated region is injected with a local anesthetic. Then, your skin is marked to indicate the insertion and direction of the inserted threads. Once the insertion points are marked clearly, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the skin where the hollow needle will be inserted.
Depending on the anti-aging correction you are trying to achieve and the location of the treatment, you may need between one and 15 threads to achieve your desired aesthetic. However, you won’t necessarily need 15 insertion points. Rather, we can insert several threads into the same insertion point.
Simple Treatment
To be a good candidate for any treatment or procedure, it is important that you have realistic expectations about the process itself and the results. A thread lift is incredibly straightforward. Once the insertion points are marked and local anesthesia is administered, PDO threads are attached to a long cannula.
The cannula is pushed through the tissue beneath your skin. Once the thread has reached its predetermined depth, we release the thread and remove the cannula. This process is repeated as necessary until we achieve your desired lift. Any excess thread is trimmed. Then we massage the threads to ensure there is no tissue dimpling.
Youthful Looks
The results of a brow lift last around five to seven years, depending on how well you care for your skin. The results of a facelift or neck lift can last between 10 and 15 years with proper skincare and a very healthy lifestyle. However, the results of a thread lift last between 21 and 24 months.
If you come in for a maintenance treatment every 18 months, you will never look old again. Again, the initial skin tightening results of your treatment are immediate and continue to improve over several weeks. Therefore, by 21 months after your first treatment, you are enjoying the most dramatic results possible from your maintenance treatment.
Easy to Combine
There are several treatments that pair very well with a thread lift. While the results are dramatic and last far longer than injectables, the results will only be better, faster and longer if you pair this with another treatment. The best treatment to pair with your thread lift will depend on your desired aesthetic goals.
For instance, if you have wrinkles caused by hyperactive muscles, a thread lift won’t help you. Botox will. Botox is a neuromodulator featuring the active ingredient Botulinum toxin A. The initial results of this treatment can be seen within three to five days. The final results can be seen within 10 to 14 days and will last between three and four months.
Easily Extendable
Extending the results of your thread lift is as easy as taking care of your skin and overall health. Drink at least 64 to 128 ounces of water per day to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. The best moisturizer in the world won’t make your skin look hydrated if your entire body is dehydrated.
Protect your skin from the sun. Damage from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays can slow your body’s production of collagen even further than aging can and weaken existing collagen.
